I have noticed, as I am sure you have, that right now the magazines are full of summer skincare tips. “Wear your sunscreen whenever you go out” is wearing me out!
But these reminders are important and so here are some tips so that you don’t have to think so much about all of these details.
Driving
Road trips are great when the sun is shining and the weather is warm, but don’t make the mistake of thinking that you’re protected from the sun while driving. Even if you ride with the windows up, you are being exposed to harmful UVB radiation. Unless you want half of your face to look like it was made out of leather, be sure to bring along a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher for that UVA and with titanium and zinc mixed in to act as a physical barrier fir that UVB radiation. To keep it simple, put it on every morning and if you are a on road trip, reapply it whenever you pull over for a rest stop or to fill up your tank!
Protect your peepers
The sun’s rays can also do damage to your eyes. Sunglasses are not just a fashion statement! They are essential for your eye health and safety! In addition, sunglasses can also protect the delicate skin around your lids. Get a pair of large sunglasses (like aviator-style shades) and you will help to slow down the sun damage, freckles and puffiness around this part of your face. Wearing your sunglasses will also help to stop you from squinting in the bright summer sun, which means you will need to get less BOTOX® to treat your crow’s feet!
Don’t sweat it
Moisturizer is your best friend in the winter, because of the cool, dry air. In the summer, however, because of the humidity and the sweating, you are likely to do when you are outside means that your skin can be saturated with oils. This can lead to blemishes. Wash your face two or three times a day and you should still apply a moisturizing sunscreen afterward to keep your skin healthy. If you are already suffering from sun damage and blemishes, consider calling us to schedule a chemical peel.
